History of St. Benedict School

Notre Dame School in the South Park subdivision was the first Catholic Elementary School in Leduc and it proved to be a popular alternative to the Public School for Catholic parents. Because a second school was soon needed, St. Benedict School was built and officially opened in 1983. Each year one grade was added to St. Benedict until the school reached a full complement of classes from kindergarten to Grade 12.
Two grade 12 classes graduated from the St. Benedict School before the new Christ the King Junior/Senior High School opened its doors in 1990. St. Benedict School was known in the community as a school that lived its Catholic principles.

Celebrations/Masses

Due to current restrictions, gathering in the gym for celebrations/mass is limited to participating cohorts. The remaining classrooms watch via Zoom.

St. Michael’s Parish

St. Benedict School has a strong connection to St. Michael’s Parish in Leduc. Students attend mass once a year at the parish, participate in youth ministry programs, and prepare for the sacraments with Father Silvichen Dominic and the parish staff.
