Welcome to the 2017-18 Learning Year

Join us in Walking The Way!

‘Jesus said: I am the Way; I am Truth and Life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”  John 14:6

As our staff of St. Benedict Catholic School begins a new school year we renew our commitment of learning, loving and living The Way. That Way, being the way of Jesus, our teacher and guide. Following The Way is to follow in the footsteps of Jesus; to put into action His teachings of service, love, and sacrifice.  Upon entering our school, you will notice a large candle surrounded with the names of our school families to remind us we are called to be Jesus for each other.

‘So when he had washed their feet [and] put his garments back on and reclined at the table again, he said to them,  “Do you realize what I have done for you? You call me ‘teacher’ and ‘master,’ and rightly so, for indeed I am.

If I, therefore, the master and teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another’s feet.

I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do.’     John 13:12-15

As Dr. Troy Davies, our STAR Catholic Superintendent, reminded us at our Divisional Faith Reflection Day, the early followers of Christ’s teachings were not known as Catholics or Christians, they were known as People of The Way. It was through their actions, their love and service to one another, that they were recognized. It was because they learned The Way, came to Love the Way and ultimately lived The Way that our faith has grown and flourished across the globe. We invite you to walk with us as we walk with Him.  It is through our charity works and social justice projects that our students and staff put into action His teachings of service. With this love in our hearts, we are committing to monthly food bank donations as well as various class and school projects.

Mark your calendar for Wednesday, September 13 for our annual Welcome Open House.  We will begin at 6:30 with a hot dog supper, followed by a few fun family activities, then our closing assembly and prize draw in our gym.

I look forward to a wonderful new school year as a school family, we walk with Him.

Inspired by the Holy Spirit,

Connie Greer
